Open MRI

Modern technology has given doctors the ability to see your body in unprecedented detail. But the closed spaces of some of the machines make some patients uneasy. This is especially true of traditional MRIs.

Perfect for patients who are large, uncomfortable in tight spaces, pediatric or the elderly, our Open MRI was designed for comfort, while producing stunningly detailed images.

All MRIs work by combining a large magnet with radio waves and a computer (instead of radiation) to create detailed images of the part of your body being studied.

Preparing for your MRI
Because the MRI is essentially a very, very big magnet, special precautions must be taken regarding surgically or accidentally implanted metal in your body. Namely:

  • Cardiac pacemaker
  • Dentures
  • Wire sutures
  • Electrodes
  • Bone rods, pins, or plates
  • Hearing aids
  • Screws, nails, or clips
  • Renal transplant
  • Carotid clips
  • Clips
  • Harrington rod
  • Artificial heart
  • IUD
  • Joint replacement
  • Prosthesis
  • Insulin pump
  • Mesh
  • Aortic clip
  • Neurostimulator
  • Shunts brain clips
  • Radiation seeds

If you think you may have one or more of these in your body, please let us know before the procedure.
